SECURITY ANTHEM

"A 'Red States Agonistes' in which a chorus of concerned faces from the heartland narrate a tragedy of found poetry. Dirty potatoes, sharp knives, an only son, and too-fast driving augur certain catastrophe that not even the intervention of deus ex machina John Ashcroft can divert or relieve."

Protesting the Dixie Chicks

YOU WANT TO KNOW HOW to start some #!@%? Ask Dixie Chicks singer, Natalie Maines. Her infamous one-liner attacking the President ignited a fire-storm of controversy, enraging their fan base, inspiring a nationwide corporate ban of their music, and ultimately turning country music into one long episode of professional wrestling. In Christopher Fleeger's funny, and frequently ominous film, PROTESTING THE DIXIE CHICKS, country music fans reveal their quirky conceptions of freedom and patriotism, as well as the anger and violence which accompany the impulse to defend them. Here, we discover a dist

A teenage girl, her childish mother and her younger sister find themselves in a strange restaurant. In this surreal way station, the manager is on drugs, the customers float and the food is free. Here, not only will their faith be put to the test, but the choices they make will either bring the family together, or pull them apart.

Ipomoea Alba

Ipomoea alba, sometimes called the moonflower or moon vine, is a species of night-blooming morning-glory.

Blooming from twining stems, the flowers are fragrant, white or pink, and large, 8-14 cm diameter. The flowers open quickly in the evening and last through the night, attracting night-flying moths and remaining open until touched by the morning sun.

And I Cried

We live in a world besieged and besotted by image. Everyone, it seems, wants their fifteen minutes and plenty of people will do whatever it takes to get a piece of the celebrity cake. And I Cried is a film about wishing to be a movie star. Being a star is about shining bright, a brilliant flash of light against a velvety black night sky. And I Cried is an exploration, a celebration, a lamentation, of our obsession with the star and the image.

A digital video inspired in part by Charles Baudelaire's poem, "The Death of Artists." It is focused on the phenomenon of artistic inspiration, and the ebbs and flows involved in the processes of bringing an artistic vision to fruition.
Where are We

This is an experimental poetic documentary that uses spoken words and images to look at the isolation one feels living in a North American city. This 6 minute short follows a solitary bike ride, where we explore an empty non-descript city. We go along with the bike through the various neighbourhoods of the seemingly empty city. The film examines the questions of what does isolation look like? How do we connect with one of another, living separately within our own boxes? What do we deem important in from what sometimes becomes the decay of our buildings? How do we create community in this c

Skating & Things

?Skating & Things? is a celebration of youth and the skateboard culture as much as it is a traditional skateboard video. The original idea was to lend some young friends my digital video camera and in return they bring me footage. They did. I shot some things as well. I added 3 tracks from local music producers and commissioned a graffiti artist to do the titles. Although the tricks are often far from professional, the video does showcase some good skateboarding along with a positively entertaining vibe.

John lives is a lesser area of an unnamed city, in a small apartment quietly tucked away from the hustle and bustle city life. Never having had the proper socialization, John is on the verge of breakdown; so fragile that he must devise a set of patterns to keep his mind focused and machinelike, and to keep him out of the daily contact with people. Selling a special and unique drug to an egotistical and naive richboy sustains John just enough to get by. But how long can a man made pattern hold up against the unpredictability of nature? It wasn't that long ago that movie tickets were 5 cents, "talkies" were unheard of, and film stars such as Buster Keaton & Charlie Chaplin were hammering out one movie per week. It's fun to sit back and watch the old slapstick comedies from the pre-1920s silent era. These short films took characters and placed them in believable situations, relying on the personality of the actors to end up in ridic

A Winter's Lament

This film is the result and embodiment of the depressing effects of winter, but more especially the Christmas holidays, upon single persons. Using symbolic imagery, the director conveys feelings of loneliness, hopelessness, and regret. However, the effect is not without a humorous undertone. Filmed in black-and-white.

post-production by after effects. editing on movie maker

Saturday Morning (initially called Dance Fable) was created over the course of 2 or 3 years using a laptop computer. The primary source of material for the film is footage from several at-home VHS recordings of the television show "Soul Train". Specifically used is a portion near the end of each program in which a single dancer performs while flanked on both sides by other dancers. Movements and gestures made by dancers were extracted from these performances to create individual expressions that were mapped onto an adapted fable, making each performer a character in the story.
Hearing Phillip is an interdisciplinary video art Project. Through collaboration between filmmaking and photography, this project shows different sides of a common narrative. This is done in three phases; Ambient video that displays the environment, Photography narrative and combined video and photography narrative.

Filmmaker David Weathersby shot the digital video art short in the summer of 2003 with Eunice Carson providing the still photography. Through the process of production and post-production it became apparent that the photography should be used for more then just press kits. Thr

Comedy: The Other Black Gold

New Short Film Identifies Comedy As Endangered Species

San Francisco, CA. "Comedy: The Other Black Gold", indicates that a precious natural resource is nearing extinction. This film, directed by filmmaker and comedian Alicia Dattner, warns that funny comedic premises are dwindling and proposes innovative new methods of generating more comedy, like shock therapy. "It's simply heartbreaking", says Dattner, "to see these poor audience members suffer through the same tired jokes over and over again. Their laughter rings out like tears of agony. I just had to do something about it."

Fastback

?Fastback? is a personal remembrance of the connection between youth, wonder and the magic of family. The filmmaker traces his fascination with the 1960s Ford Mustang car to his affection for his Grandmother. The Mustang Fastback is just a car, but it brought family to the young boy, so its meaning travels beyond the literal world of metal and oil.

The car has fiscal value in the ?real? world, but the dreams a little boy has of his Grandmother are priceless.

??And dreams are worth everything.?

The people he met who opened up and shared their compelling experiences of ritual and community formed the documentary 'RitualNation'.
